Laker CHAMPS Challenge
The Idea: This program is a competition between all the teams to win points by completing activities in several different categories. The categories include Laker Honor Roll, Community Outreach, Blue Pride, Career Development, and Personal Development. The information listed below explains the point values for each category. At the end of the year each team's total will be divided by the number of players on the team. This will be the team total for the year. The team with the highest total will win a prize from our office. The scores will be posted on the wall outside the L.A.K.E.R. Academic Center and updated on a weekly basis. Student-athletes who have participated in any event may receive points by filling out this form. Please turn in all completed forms to the Laker Academic Center to earn points for your team! Go Lakers! · 1st place: 100 points/person on the team · 2nd place: 75 points/person on the team · 3rd place: 50 points/person on the team Community Outreach: Student-athletes and teams can earn points by participating in either organized community service projects through the Athletes Who Care (AWC) program or projects organized by their team. · 100 points per person involved o 500 points are added to the total if 50% or more of the team is involved · Bonus: 25 points per person if the program is sponsored by AWC Blue Pride: Student-athletes and teams can earn points by attending the home contests of other teams. · Football and Men’s Basketball games- 10 points per person in attendance · All other sports- 25 points per person in attendance · Bonus: Points are doubled for away games Career Development: Student-athletes can earn points for their team by attending career fairs, employer presentations, and career related workshops. These can be events sponsored by Athletes, Internships, and Mentoring (AIM), Career Services, or The Counseling and Career Development Office. · 50 points per person who attends the event. · Bonus: 25 points per person if the program is sponsored by AIM Personal Development: Student-athletes who attend Life Skills workshops, or similar events and presentations will earn points for their teams. · 50 points per person who attends the event. · Bonus: 25 points per person if the program is sponsored by Life Skills. |
