1. How to Enter

To enter the contest, visit the Laker5 website. After entering a five (5) word description of your Grand Valley State University experience, you will be asked to enter your network ID. Limit three entries per student account.

The website will not accept duplicate entries. The website will identify any duplicate five words and, if the entry has already been submitted, will ask entrant to produce a different five words prior to allowing the entrant to submit his or her entry. Each entrant will receive an entry confirmation via email. Only original works will be eligible for consideration.

Grand Valley reserves the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify and reject any entries that are inappropriate for any reason, including without limitation, for containing profane or inappropriate language.

No automated entry devices and/or programs permitted. Grand Valley is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, stolen, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, misdirected, technically corrupted or garbled entries, which will be disqualified, or for problems of any kind whether mechanical, human, or electronic. Only fully completed entry forms are eligible. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor.

2. Start/End Dates

Contest entry period begins at 8:00:01 am Eastern Standard Time ("EST") on January 09, 2012 and ends January 27, 2012 at 11:59:59 pm EST. Voting begins January 31, 2012 at 12:00:01 am EST and ends February 09, 2012 at 11:59:59 pm EST.

3. Eligibility for Entries and Voting

Only students of Grand Valley State University who are enrolled in at least one credit in the Winter 2012 semester are eligible to enter and to vote. Winners must be in good academic standing. Faculty and staff members are not eligible.

4. Judging /Judging Criteria

Current Grand Valley students may vote on up to three entries they like best between January 31, 2012 and February 09, 2012. The Top 10 will be determined by the most votes during this period of time.

A panel of judges made up of the University President, Student Senate President, a graduate student, Alumni Association President, Faculty Senate President, Dean of Students, and Assistant Vice President for Institutional Marketing will determine which of the Top 10 will receive one of the five scholarships.

All Top 10 entries will be judged based on the following judging criteria all with equal value:

Only Top 10 entries are eligible for submission to the judging panel for consideration. By entering the contest, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these contest rules and the decisions of the judging panel, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the contest.

5. Scholarships

First place - one $1,000 scholarship to Grand Valley State University
Second place - one $750 scholarship to Grand Valley State University
Third place - one $500 scholarship to Grand Valley State University
Runners-up - two $250 scholarships to Grand Valley State University

6. Notification

Winners will be announced at the 2012 Presidents' Ball on February 17, 2012. Each submitter of the Top 10 entries will be given one free ticket to the Presidents' Ball.

7. Use of Data

Names will be associated with entries and displayed on the Laker5 website. No other data will be displayed. Winners' contact information will be used to inform the winners of their scholarship. Entries may be used for GVSU's promotional purposes.

Winners give GVSU unlimited permission to use their Laker5 entry in any and all university marketing or promotional materials in any medium in perpetuity. Winners will be asked to sign a copyright assignment upon notice of their selection.

8. List of Winners

The list of winners will be posted to the Laker5 website.
