Fire Extinguishers
Types of Fire Extinguishers:

![]() Flammable liquids: oil, grease and paint thinners. |
![]() Energized electrical equipment. |
GVSU lab fire extinguishers are Type ABC, effective against Types A, B, and C fires.
The average fire extinguisher only operates about 10 seconds. Don't waste it!
HOW TO USE A PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Remember the acronym, "P.A.S.S."
| P | Pull the Pin. |
|---|---|
| A | Aim the extinguisher nozzle at the base of the flames. |
| S | Squeeze trigger while holding the extinguisher upright. |
| S | Sweep the extinguisher from side to side, covering the area of the fire with the extinguishing agent. |
