Please join us for the opening reception for the Nuestra Comunidad Hispana Exhibition! The event will be held at Herrick District Library on December 7, 2015 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Nuestra Comunidad Hispana celebrates Holland's Latino communities by collecting portraits and oral histories from community members, their friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. This effort is a collaboration among GVSU's Kutsche Office of Local History (Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies), City of Holland, Herrick District Library, Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP), St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, and GVSU's Meijer Campus in Holland. The project launched in August 2015 as part of National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations for 2015.
Participants in the project will be given copies of their oral histories, photographs, and exhibit boards at the event. Refreshments will also be served. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
