Community History Harvest

NEH Common Heritage Grant

Date and Time

Saturday, June 18, 2016 10:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Description

Join us on Saturday, June 18 at Hart City Hall and the Hart Library to share your memories and family history. This "Community History Harvest" offers all members of Oceana County a chance to preserve their family's history and their stories. Bring photos, letters, clippings or other documents to have them digitized. (All originals plus digital copies will be given back to donors. A digital copy will be preserved in the Oceana County Historical and Genealogical Society and GVSU Special Collections & Archives for long-term preservation and access.) Oral histories will also be recorded on-site, with digital copies of interviews given to interviewees.

Please help us to tell the agricultural and community history of Oceana County for the first time. Everyone has a story. And your voice matters!

Refreshments served. There is no fee to participate and everyone is welcome!

This project is supported in part by a National Endowment for the Humanities Common Heritage Grant and is a partnership among Grand Valley State University, El Centro Hispano de Oceana, and the Oceana County Historical & Genealogical Society.
