What is a Nursing Externship?

A nursing externship is a structured program desigend to provide nursing students with hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare setting. It is typically offered during the summer or alongside the academic curriculum. These programs aim to enhance clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and familiarity with the healthcare environment. The externship can be beneficial in helping students make informed decisions about their future nursing career paths. Most externships are paid and require the nursing student to be in the senior year of their nursing program.
