Description

Register here for the June 4-5 Training Event: "Building Blocks for Effective Case Management"

In response to your requests for professional development and feedback from previous event participants, Juvenile Justice Vision 20/20 is proud to present three outstanding sessions that are linked to the critical juvenile justice topic of effective case management.

The first session on Use of Structured Risk/Need Assessments to Improve Outcomes for Juvenile Offendersisscheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 9:00am-12:00pm and will feature national expert, Dr. Sarah L. Desmarais, who will share the most recent national research on risk and needs assessments as they relate to at-risk youth.  Dr. Desmarais is a strong proponent for evidence based practices that help ensure juvenile justice professionals achieve positive outcomes for the children and families on their caseloads.

On Thursday afternoon from 1:30pm-4:00pm, the second session, Nuts and Bolts: Using Assessment Information to Drive Treatment Planning  will build on Dr. Desmarais’ landscape by more narrowly focusing on risk and needs assessment instruments used in the state of Michigan.  Local juvenile justice experts and Juvenile Justice Vision 20/20 members Joseph Hall, Michele Bell and Derek Hitchcock will share detailed findings from the survey and provide a hands on opportunity for all conference participants to learn about best practices regarding instrument use, application and ultimately, to develop strong case management plans with appropriate programming recommendations.

Building on the national and local best practices presented on Thursday, the third session Effective Case Management:  Creative Funding Strategies isscheduled from 9:00am-12:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2015.  This panel will engage Michigan experts John Evans, Carla Grezeszak, and Andrew Thalhammer with juvenile court and Department of Human Services experience to share their knowledge of resources and funding mechanisms that will allow juvenile justice workers and case managers to effectively pursue creative community based programming.  In addition to receiving materials regarding available funding options, conference participants will have an opportunity to discuss programming needs and creative funding options to help build a continuum of care in their community.

Whether you are working with the courts, DHS, private agencies or local organizations involved in case management for at-risk youth, this conference will provide you with invaluable resources, ideas and  encouragement.
