Educational Opportunities
The Johnson Center for Philanthropy offers educational and professional development opportunities for nonprofit professionals and organizations regarding board development, capacity building, fundraising, marketing and communications, leadership, and volunteer management.

Brown Bag Series
We are continuing our popular Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Series through the fall. This series, free to participants, highlights multiple topics related to the nonprofit sector and philanthropy.
Encore: Coming of Age ® Learning Lab
Increase the role of experienced adult volunteers in your organization through participating in the Encore: Coming of Age ® Learning Lab. The Learning Lab is designed to develop tangible ways to increase the opportunities for age 50+ volunteers and encore careerists, and prepare your organization to maximize their impact on your programs and services.
Nonprofit Board Certificate Program
The Nonprofit Board Certificate Program offers guidance for those serving or planning to serve on nonprofit boards. Over the course of four one-hour sessions the program defines the roles and responsibilities of board service. The entire program can be offered in one setting, in two two-hour sessions, or in four one-hour sessions.
Nonprofit Management Crash Course
The Nonprofit Management Crash Course is a series of six four-hour sessions designed to introduce individuals to nonprofit management. This custom course will cover the basics of running a nonprofit organization. Sessions will cover such topics as: governance, fundraising, human resources, volunteer management, grantseeking, program development, evaluation, public relations, strategic planning, financial management, and more. The instructors come from the Johnson Center's pool of expert practitioners who are equipped with years of experience managing, leading, and working with nonprofits of all types and sizes.
Roadmap to Cultural Competency
This course can be tailored to certain needs. Its unique training is designed to help nonprofit organizations develop and build their skills in culture aptitude. Diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency are vital to the success of any organization that aims to be effective in their work. This training provides participants with organizational tools and resources to create a strategy and direction for cultural proficiency. School of Public, Nonprofit, and Health Administration
As a member of the College of Community and Public Service, the Johnson Center for Philanthropy works closely with faculty. Alongside the School of Public, Nonprofit, and Health Administration, we support a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. The certificate offers local nonprofit managers the professional skills and perspectives required to do their work more effectively in the rapidly changing nonprofit sector of society. The School of Public, Nonprofit, and Health Administration also offers a Masters of Public Admnistration with emphasis in Nonprofit Management and Urban and Regional Planning, as well as a Masters in Health Admnistration.
