Steve Hendrickson is principal trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra. He graduated from Iowa's Luther College in 1973 with a degree in music and philosophy. Further study followed with some of the world's leading brass players, including Adolf Herseth, William Scarlett, and Arnold Jacobs. Before joining the NSO in 1982, he was a leading free-lance musician in Chicago, performing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera and the Chicago Brass Ensemble, while working as a stockbroker on the Chicago Exchange.
Steve Hendrickson has appeared as soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra performing Bach, Vivaldi, Arutunian, Persichetti, and most recently, the Haydn Trumpet Concerto. He is active also in the Washington area as a recitalist and chamber musician.
