Dai Zhonghui, one of the primary trumpet players in China, has held the position of  principal trumpet of the National Symphony of China for ten years (1996-2006). With this orchstra, he has played in Germany, England, Austria, South America, Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and more than twenty cities in mainland China. The orchestra has been thrilled with world famous conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin, Rozhestvendsky, and George Schwarz.

Dai Zhonghui is nationally acclaimed as a performer and brass instructor. He joined the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music in 2002, and is trumpet professor, founder and director of the Central Conservatory Brass Ensemble and conductor of the Central Conservatory of Music Symphonic Winds Orchestra. He gave a trumpet masterclass for the International Trumpet Guild Conference in 2005, Thailand, and played a solo recital for the ITG Conference at Rowan University, New Jersey, USA, 2006. He has frequently given trumpet masterclasses in the U.S., Europe and Asia. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras in the US and China. In addition, he has performed as a soloist for studio recordings for movie, television and commercial works in Beijing. He has made three sets of video recordings for educational purposes and four solo album CDs with three top recording companies in China. In 2006-2007 he was visiting associate professor at the Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore. His students have won positions in major orchestras in China such as the National Theatre Symphony Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, China Central Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and numbers of them are scholarship winners at music schools in the US, Europe and Russia. His student won the first prize at the 2012 International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition in Columbus, GA, USA.

Dai Zhonghui received his Master of Fine Arts in Music from the International University in San Diego and also studied seven years for graduate studies and in the Artist Diploma program at the University of Southern California School of Music. In 1990-1991 he was awarded a trumpet fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute and Grand Teton Orchestra Seminar. His teachers include Boyd Hood, Thomas Stevens, Charles Schlueter, Rob Roy McGregor, Roger Voisin, and Susan Slaughter.

Dai Zhonghui has been invited frequently as a judge for orchestra auditions around China and served as a member of the jury for competitions nationally and internationally.

Currently, he serves as President of the China Trumpet Guild, vice president of the Chinese Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and the Board of Directors of the International Trumpet Guild.,
