2023 -2024 IT Team Member Highlights
GVSU IT Represented at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference

Several GVSU IT staff had the opportunity to attend and
participate in the EDUCAUSE
Annual Conference this year. The conference was held at the
McCormick Place in Chicago, IL from October 9 through 12.
The IT Innovation and
Research Team (Eric Kunnen, Hunter Bridwell, Jacob Fortman, Ty
Rizer) presented the following posters during the conference:
1. Leveraging Innovation and Research to Pioneer the Future of Education through an Era of Complexity
2. Exploring the Future of Teaching and Learning in the Technology Showcase
3. VR Learning Design Compendium: Design Artifacts to Inspire VR Education
4. Student-Built Solutions to Address University Needs
Sessions at the event covered a wide array of topics, from
security to artificial intelligence, from extended reality to web
conferencing, and more. In fact, there were many presentations on
topics in the 2023
EDUCUASE Horizon Report which features key trends, emerging
technologies, and practices shaping the future of education. Eric
Kunnen, Senior Director, IT Innovation and Research, had the
opportunity to serve on the report committee this year.
Additionally, another conference highlight was the revealing of
the 2024
Top 10 IT Issues and Trends in Higher Education, including: 1)
Cybersecurity 2) Data Governance 3) Enrollment 4) Learning Analytics
5) Cost Reduction / Automation 6) Digital Campus Student Experience 7)
IT Talent 8) Financial Health 9) Balancing Budgets 10) Future Ready Agility.
