Operating System Descriptions

GVSU Academic Computing supports Windows Vista  and a Macintosh environment.

The Standard Windows Vista Environment is a lab environment where all of the specific departmental applications are loaded in Vista.

For Macintosh Environments, software is loaded on the hard drives of the Macintosh computers.  See above for locations.

Faculty/staff do not automatically have access to a departmental R: drive.  You must request this from your Academic Computing liaison.

How to use the Vista Lab Environment

  • Faculty: Enter your GVSU network account in the userid field, then @ office e.g. smithj@office

  • Students: Enter your GVSU network account in the userid field.
  • Enter your GVSU network password in the password field.

  • You will have Internet, N: drive and full access to the R: drive.

How to use the Macintosh Lab Environment

  • Enter your GVSU network account in the userid field, e.g. smithj.bio or just smithj

  • Enter your GVSU network password in the password field.
