GVSU Accounts

A wide variety of technology services and computing resources will support your work at Grand Valley State University.  Before you can take advantage of those services, you must have a G-number and a GVSU network account and password.

Getting Started


  • New and incoming students, faculty and staff will receive a letter containing your G-number and your Network (Outlook, Wireless, Lab) username and password.
  • If you are already on campus and do not know your G-number, please call Records at 616-331-3327.
  • If you are already on campus and do not have, or have forgotten components of your Network username or password please contact the HelpDesk.
  • Non-GVSU affiliates can be sponsored for a Guest account.  Sponsors should complete the Guest account request form here.

Faculty/Staff


Your GVSU Network account will be used to login to the following:

  • Your GVSU issued computer
  • GVSU Faculty/Staff Wireless
  • Labs & Classrooms (add @Office at the end of your username when logging into these computers)
  • Outlook (the following username will work when receiving email smithj@gvsu.edu, Jim.Smith@gvsu.edu, Jim_Smith@gvsu.edu)
  • Gmail
  • Blackboard

Note:  If you changed your name and you would like your username to change, make change with Human Resources, then email auth@gvsu.edu

  • To have your INB password reset you will need to call the Help Desk at 616-331-2101.
  • Use your GVSU network credentials to access INB and reset your own network password.  Click here to learn more.
  • To have your Onbase Account password reset call the Help Desk at 616-331-2101.

Many systems require a secure connection to the GVSU network via a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

  • To reset your unlock your Banner Workflow account call the Help Desk at 616-331-2101.
 

Students


Your GVSU Network account will be used to login to the following:

  • Gmail
  • Computer Labs
  • Wireless
  • Laker Jobs
  • My Student Data

Note:  If you changed your name and you would like your username to change, email helpdesk@gvsu.edu with the following information:

  • G number
  • Old name
  • New name
  • Alternate email address

This will only change your username, if you would like your name changed with all of GVSU, call Records at 616-331-3327.

  • If you cannot login to Laker Jobs and you are a new student you will need to contact Student Employment.

Current Student
