CALL FOR STORIES!
We want to hear your stories, both real and imagined, about violence and resisting violence.
….What do we mean by violence?
Violence is an abusive or unjust exercise of power. Violence can be interpersonal and/or systemic. Violence can be physical, emotional, and/or sexual. Violence can be implied or suggested.
…What do we mean by resistance?
Resistance is disrupting abusive or unjust exercises of power by mobilizing the power of collective community. Resistance can be survival. Resistance can be dismantling systems of domination and control. Resistance can be refusal to accept privilege or participate in accepted patterns of exploitation and oppression.
For example, your stories may relate to:
- Gender (sexual assault, stalking, experiences in the workplace, etc.)
- Race (politics about hair, classroom experiences, micro aggressions, etc.)
- Sexuality (assault, homo/bi/transphobic slurs, refusal of pronoun or name, exclusion, etc.)
- Socio-economic status (poverty, access to services, homelessness, food insecurity, etc.)
