Description

Join us on November 7 for the Tuesday Tabletalk: Healing Steps on the Journey from Patriarchy. Across faith traditions and vocations, women continually face inequalities and injustices perpetuated by systemic patriarchy.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hear from a panel of women from various religious traditions and professional vocations engaging in a facilitated discussion about their experiences in facing, navigating and overcoming barriers, assumptions, stereotypes, mansplaining, and power dynamics in male-dominated or male-privileged environments.

Panel Presenters:

  • Zahabia Ahmed-Usmani, Muslim, Board Chair of the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance
  • Dr. Winifred Eshragh, MD, Bahá’í, Retired Physician of Grand Rapids
  • Shuji Valdene Mintzmyer, Buddhist Spiritual Leader of the Just Sit Zendo Community in Grand Rapids
  • Faye Richardson-Green, Christian, Executive Director of Partners for a Racism-Free Community
