Description
In honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace, families can merge justice and fun, learn and practice peaceful, win-win activities.
The United Nations International Day of Peace was proclaimed by Mayor George Heartwell of Grand Rapids, Mich. to “commemorate and strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.” The Institute for Global Education has planned several important community events to celebrate and observe peace here in Grand Rapids in connection with this international day of observances around the world. This year address violence around the world, their experiences with violence, and how their faith and understanding help them move toward peace and forgiveness. Instruments of Hope is arranging the walking path before the service around the grounds of Marywood. There will be 6-7 speakers from all different traditions from 2-3pm in the chapel at the Dominican Center.
