Community public events will be hosted once a month and Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell has agreed to declare 2012 the "Grand Rapids Year of Interfaith Understanding." Congregations will be encouraged to work with each other in joint interfaith efforts, as well as host study groups, book clubs, speakers, and sacred space tours. Campus involvement will include lectures, service projects, and interfaith curriculum development.
The 2012 Year of Interfaith Understanding will culminate with the Triennial Interfaith Dialogue on October 30, 2012, featuring scholars from the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian traditions. For more information, or to become involved, please contact: Dr. Douglas Kindschi or Whitney Belprez at interfaith@gvsu.edu To see the 2012 Year of Interfaith Understanding Flyer, please click here. |
