GVSU Coordinated Student Support: Campus Safety Concerns

September 30, 2016

In an effort to provide additional victim/survivor advocacy services for students, Grand Valley State University will be hosting the following community partners on campus this weekend: the Center for Women in Transition, YWCA West Central Michigan and , Safe Haven Ministries at the Women’s Center (1201 Kirkoff Center) on Saturday, October 1 st and Sunday, October 2 nd from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m..

Trained members of their staff and volunteer crisis advocates of their organization will be available to meet with students to talk about how they are handling the off-campus unknown perpetrator concerns as well as the very prevalent reality of non-stranger sexual assaults.  These staff members will hold a space for confidential victim/survivor resources and provide self-care for all students feeling impacted.

These trained professionals supplement the work of our Victim Advocate and our co-advocates, and specialize in this area.  It is our hope that students utilize the resources of these community partners and their expertise.
