Reported Biased Incidents Summary
Winter Semester 2010
There were eleven (11) biased incidents reported to the Dean of Students Office during the winter semester 2010. All incidents occurred on the Allendale campus with 4 reported in housing areas, 3 reported in the Kirkhof Center, 2 reported in academic buildings, 1 reported in Kleiner, and 1 reported in the fieldhouse. Reports included 6 incidents regarding sexual orientation with one of those including race as well, 2 incidents regarding race, 1 incident regarding religion, and 2 incidents regarding ethnicity. Five incidents involved anonymous comments posted on public white boards or scrawled on a restroom stall wall, four incidents involved comments made by individuals, and two incidents involved vandalism to postings on bulletin boards. All reported incidents were investigated and appropriate follow-up actions were taken and support was provided to victim(s) and/or the reporting individual.
