THOUGHTS ON LEARNING IN THE 21ST CENTURY

"Teaching and learning today involves tools, which are online. This is true for online courses and for classroom courses. I use Twitter, YouTube, Blackboard, and other tools to create collaboration in engaging learning environments. Young professionals in most fields, not just the technology area, must adopt online tools to create personal learning networks and pursue learning throughout their careers. That's why online teaching excellence is important in courses of all delivery methods."

"For some time now I've been contributing online teaching content and complete courses to various learning organizations. Some of them include University of the People, Northwestern University GiftedLinks, Udemy, BrainMass, Education Portal, and many local schools. These activities help me to sharpen my instructional focus and evaluate innovative approaches of other organizations. The course recognized by the national Blackboard Exemplary Course Program was a result of a collegiate collaboration with Eric Kunnen from GVSU, Garry Brand from GRCC, and Melissa Stange from Shenandoah University. This is my second Catalyst Award. In 2011 I received the Catalyst Award for Innovative Development of Blackboard, which was a recognition of my software engineering contributions. LoginAs and BbStats Blackboard modules continue to be among the most often downloaded, Open Source modules for Blackboard."
