Experience:
Dr. Mohammed Lefrid joined GVSU Hospitality and Tourism Management Department in August 2020. He received his Ph.D. in Hospitality Management and a Master’s of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Central Florida. His teaching experience includes lecturing at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management- UCF and Valencia College in Orlando, FL.

Dr. Lefrid’s academic career was preceded by more than 19 years of hospitality industry work experience, including managerial roles at the Walt Disney World company and Marriott International. His career endeavor at Disney World started in 1997 and led him through two main theme parks, three Disney resorts as well as Disney Springs. In addition, Dr. Lefrid Spent over two years in charge of food safety at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

Dr. Lefrid’s research agenda includes consumer behavior in food and beverage settings and organizational behavior in hospitality, more specifically concentrated on immigrant workers, workplace inclusion, and work engagement.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling.
