Title: Media Services Technician - Pew Campus
Classification: T3

Job Summary:

Provides support services to Pew Campus community by coordinating multimedia technology services for academic departments and conference service events.

Primary Duties & Global Responsibilities:

  • Operates tests and monitors multimedia technology equipment during academic/non-academic classes, events and activities.
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions and performs minor repairs.
  • Maintains records and reports in information systems (including Banner, HEAT, EMS).
  • Works with vendors to resolve equipment issues.
  • Provides technical support for use of learning technologies.
  • Addresses technical emergencies.
  • Assists in maintaining an inventory of consumables and resources.
  • Maintains inventory of IT-owned and operated equipment.
  • Supervises student employees including tracking of activities.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operates, tests and monitors distance learning media (ITV classrooms for academic and non-academic use).
  • Training of faculty and conference services guests in the sue of classroom instructional technologies (computers, data projectors, VCRs, monitors, overhead projectors, etc.)
  • Maintains backup sources for equipment.
  • Recommends equipment purchase and replacement.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate supplemented by two years of technical training.
  • Minimum of three years related experience.
  • Available to work flexible schedule including weekends.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate office equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Working knowledge of multimedia switching systems such as Extron, Crestron, and AMX.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems (Windows and Macintosh operating systems) AV production equipment, systems design, electronics and audio systems.
  • Demonstrated experience to recognize equipment malfunctions & make minor repairs.

Desired Qualifications: (Preferred in addition to required qualifications.)

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Desire to stay current with technological advances in related fields.
  • Desire to pursue further educational goals.

Supervised by Academic Systems Supervisor but also expected to work both independently and cooperatively with other technical staff to apply appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.

Assist in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling and coordinating the work of student employees and may act as a leader to other COT staff members within the department/unit/division.
