Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Communications Facilities Specialist in the management of the audio, video, film and photographic facilities associated with the School of Communications.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the evening check-out/check-in system of equipment within the School of Communications.
  • Responsible for the night and week-end security of the equipment and supplies within the Equipment Room, Resource Room, and individual labs and suites.
  • Operates audio, video, film and photography equipment; sets up photo labs, etc.
  • Advises students in preparation of audio, video, film and photographic productions.
  • Inventories equipment and supplies; initiates the ordering of supplies.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise student employees.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Coordinate activities with clients and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate. 
  • Minimum of two years of experience and/or training in the area of film/video, photographs, and/or audio production.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate office equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate and explain the operation of film, audio, video and photographic equipment as demonstrated through work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully recognize equipment malfunctions and make minor equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully perform record keeping and scheduling duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Higher education experience
  • Supervisory experience

Supervision Received

Receives minimal supervision from a designated supervisor. Much of the work is self-initiated. Person is expected to function with considerable independence and apply appropriate policies and procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.

Supervision Exercised

Hire, train, schedule and coordinate the work of student employees and may act as lead worker to PSS staff members within the department/unit/division.
