Graduate Assistantships
Assistant Living Center Directors are half-time, graduate assistant positions responsible for sharing and/or providing the administrative leadership of a residential area housing 200 to 700 students. The assistantship position connects the academic experience by applying classroom theoretical and research practices to daily student interactions that consist of advising, counseling, conflict mediation, supervision, training, evaluation and assessment processes. Graduate Assistant Application Steps

Check the GVSU website for the CSAL program information and assistantship opportunities. You can apply for an assistantship online.

Apply for admission into the School of Education for a Master's in Education. You will later list your emphasis as the College of Student Affairs and Leadership. If your cumulative GPA is 3.0 or greater, the GRE is not a program requirement. Learn more about the Master's Program.

If extended an on-campus interview, send in your intent to attend on campus interview day at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. Visitation dates are scheduled for March 15th and March 22nd, 2013. Recruitment information can be found here.

Research other available assistantships. Candidates can interview with up to three different departments during their visitation day, but are not required to if they have a specific area of interest.

If offered an assistantship, accept it (We're Awesome!).

Fill out and sign contract for assistantship and mail back to GVSU.

Finalize admission to the School of Education; i.e. sending in final transcripts, three letters of recommendation (form), and successful completion of at least a Bachelor's degree. If requesting financial aid, complete FAFSA.
