Here are some excellent opportunities both on and off campus for students to do research and to present at conferences:

Grand Valley on-campus opportunities:

Student Scholarship Day
Student Scholarship Day (SSD) is held once each year to celebrate the scholarship and creative work performed by GVSU students.  The day showcases faculty-mentored student work, shared through many venues, including (but not limited to) oral presentations, discussion and panel sessions, fine arts exhibits and performances, and poster presentations. Held in early April.

Student Summer Scholars
The Student Summer Scholars Program (S3) provides funds for a student and faculty mentor to devote twelve weeks to a research and/or creative project during the spring/summer semester.  Generally, S3 Grants provide a student stipend, faculty stipend, and a small budget for supplies. Deadline is mid-January.

Look for opportunities to present at these regional conferences:
Mideast Regional Honors Conference

Grand Rapids Honors Student Conference

Upper Midwest Regional Honors Conference

Honors may be able to help finance your expenses if you contact Dr. J at the Honors Office.

If you have a project that you would like to propose for a presentation at the National Collegiate Honors Council (the biggest and most prestigious of the honors conferences) next October, that would be great! See the NCHC conference website at http://www.ucs.iastate.edu/mnet/nchc/home.html.

Again, some financing will be available from the Honors Office if your proposal is accepted for that conference.

If you have questions about Honors conferences, funding, or anything else related to a presentation, please feel free to contact the Director of the Frederik Meijer Honors College, Dr. J., at chamberj@gvsu.edu.
