Honeybees

About Honey Bees

Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the approximately 20,000 known species of bees. They are usually very gentle and are too busy to bother people.  Honeybee hives have long provided humans with honey and beeswax. Such commercial uses have spawned a large beekeeping industry, though many species still occur in the wild.
