Macatawa Area Coordinating Council Meets at GVSU Meijer Campus in Holland

The Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC), the local metropolitan planning organization for the Holland/Zeeland area, met yesterday at the GVSU Meijer Campus in Holland to discuss stormwater management with residents. It is part of a project that is funded by the Community Foundation of the Holland Zeeland Area and the overall goal of the project is to develop a green stormwater infrastructure vision for the Macatawa Watershed. The Macatawa Watershed Project works to improve water quality in Lake Macatawa and its many tributaries by increasing awareness of water quality issues and implementing practices that reduce storm water runoff and minimize soil erosion.

The MACC has also addressed significant area-wide issues including:
o Macatawa Watershed Project
o Green Commute
o Non-motorized Planning
o Clean Air Action Program
o Census 2010 Coordination
o Site Assessment Grant Program for Brownfields
o Crime Prevention
o Improving Service Delivery
