Professor Lane Leads Nicaragua Trip for Educational Initiatives

Date: November 9, 2012

Our very own GVSU-Holland professor, Paul Lane, is helping individuals all around the globe. Please read this inspiring news report about the Applied Global Innovation Initiative that Dr. Lane co-directs:

Today, Dr. Lane's team will be in Estelí, Nicaragua to supply local schools with preschool learning kits. The learning kits are made to be interactive and fun for students to learn from. Nicaragua's schools have dirt flooring and very little resources. Dr. Lane explains his goal for when these kits arrive, they are to be "very exciting so when they arrive in an impoverished environment, they say, 'Take me; try me."

1,700 individuals competed to be on this Nicaragua team and only 6 designers made the cut to go on the trip. This is a huge honor for Dr. Lane and his team. The kits have four main subject areas: scientific, performing arts, visual arts, and sensory. The kit has a wide array of teaching areas. If you would like to get involved in GVSU's Applied Global Innovation Initiative, please email Dr. Lane at:
