Rooms for Nursing Mothers Initiative

Grand Valley State University supports faculty, staff, and student mothers who wish to continue nursing as they return to work and school. In order to make this transition as stress free as possible, GVSU has offered private spaces for nursing mothers for the last several years. This video provides examples and locations of the rooms as well as local and on-campus resources. 

Healthy Choices Wellness Program

As a Grand Valley faculty or staff member, your to-do list for achieving a healthy lifestyle is made easier by taking advantage of the wealth of Health and Wellness programs and resources that are available to you - especially the Healthy Choices Wellness Program.

There are three components to the HCWP, which are explained in the video to the left. If you are a benefit eligible faculty or staff member who successfully completes all three components of the program, you will receive $300 in Healthy Choices rewards.

Health and Wellness Fitness Stairwell: CHS

The fitness stairwell located on the southeast side of the Cook DeVos Center for Health Sciences building provides guided exercises for all levels on each floor landing. Participate in one or all of the exercises on your way to the top!

Access to the space is free, however a key card is required to enter the stairwell. To access the space, stop by the CHS front desk and check out a key card. Resistance bands and yoga mats are available. 

Health and Wellness Fitness Stairwell: Eberhard Center

The fitness stairwell is the main stairway within the Eberharde Center provides guided exercises for all levels on each floor landing. Participate in one or all of the exercises on your way to the top!

Access to the space is free. However, resistance bands and yoga mats are NOT available. 

Health and Wellness Fitness Facility: Winter hall

This workout room is located within Winter Hall on GVSU's downtown PEW Campus. You must have an access card to enter the building. Faculty and staff can request access for free from PEW Campus Operations.

Human Resources Health and Wellness 

Watch this quick video to learn more about GVSU's Health and Wellness Program. In 2006, GVSU's Human Resources office made the decision to combine the Benefits office with health and wellness initiatives. This change took place in order to combat rising costs in health care and insurance coverage.

Our mission is to promote and encourage healthy lifestyles to enhance the quality of life for the GVSU community and their families. 

2013 Couch to 5K Training Program

This year's participants trained their way from the couch all the way to a 5k run! Participants receive training plans and accountability partners to build their stamina. The program typically runs from August - October when participants run the GVSU Family Weekend 5k Race.

 

Emotional Health

Grand Valley State University recognizes the importance of good emotional health for their faculty, staff and students. This video promotes seeking support when struggling with anxiety, depression or any type of emotional health challenge.
