Adjunct Administrative Professionals

Adjunct Executive, Administrative and Professional staff do not accrue vacation, however, Full time or part-time for a full year staff members appointed one-half time or more may be allowed paid time off with the approval of the appointing officer, provided such arrangements are made at the time of appointment, not to exceed 10 days per year.

Academic Year Administrative and Professional 

Academic Year Administrative and Professional staff do not accrue vacation.

Executive, Administrative and Professional

Full-time executive, administrative and professional staff working on continuing appointments for the fiscal year accrue vacation at the rate of five days per calendar quarter of completed service. Vacation time may not be charged until it is earned. Staff members with earned vacation terminating their employment will be eligible for their accrued vacation, not to exceed 20 days, provided at least four weeks notice of their intent to leave is received. Up to 25 days of accrued vacation may be carried from one calendar year into the next.

Executive, administrative and professional staff working on less than 12 month appointments are limited by the special requirements of their appointment and/or academic calendar and vacation is not accrued.

Vacation for executive, administrative and professional staff working less than full-time, but more than one half-time, will be prorated to reflect the particular appointment.

Faculty

Vacation for faculty members on academic year appointments is limited by the academic calendar and is not accrued. Faculty on annual appointments accrue vacation at the rate of five days per calendar quarter of completed service. A prorated number of days for a partial quarter of service will be computed when necessary. Approval of the use of accrued vacation is the responsibility of the appropriate unit head. Vacation time may not be charged until it is earned. Faculty members with accrued vacation terminating their employment will be eligible for their accrued vacation, not to exceed 20 days, provided at least four weeks' notice of their intent to leave is received. Up to 20 days of accrued vacation may be carried from one calendar year into the next.

Affiliate Faculty

Affiliate Faculty do not accrue vacation; however, Affiliate Faculty on full time fiscal year appointments may be allowed time off without loss of pay by the appointing officer not to exceed an amount equal to that granted other full time persons on fiscal year appointments.

Visiting Faculty

Visiting Faculty members do not accrue vacation; however, Visiting Faculty on full time fiscal year appointments may be allowed time off without loss of pay by the appointing officer not to exceed an amount equal to that granted other full time persons on fiscal year appointments.

Maintenance Grounds and Service Staff

Maintenance, grounds and service staff accrue .05 hours of vacation time for each regular hour worked during the first two full calendar years of uninterrupted service. Thereafter, an additional 8 hours (full-time) 4 hours (part-time) of vacation is added for each calendar year of uninterrupted service. Accrued vacation may be used after six months of employment.

The number of hours earned in any single calendar year shall not exceed one hundred sixty (160) hours (eighty (80) hours for part-time staff). Unused vacation may be carried over into the next calendar year providing the number of hours does not exceed the hours earned the preceding year.

Professional Support Staff and Police

Professional Support Staff and Department of Public Safety staff accrue .058 hours of vacation time for each regular hour worked for the first four years of employment for up to a total of 15 vacation days annually.  At the beginning of the staff members fifth year of services, as determined by his or her anniversary dated, the staff member will accrue .077 hours of vacation time for each hour for up to a total of 20 vacation days annually. 

No more than one hundred sixty (160) hours (eighty (80) hours for part-time staff) of earned vacation may be carried from one calendar year to the next calendar year.

Pew Campus Security

Full-time and Probationary staff accrue .05 hours of vacation time for each hour worked (maximum 40 hours per week) during the first two years of uninterrupted employment with the University. Thereafter, an additional eight (8) hours per year is added with each calendar year of uninterrupted employment with the University, except that the number of hours earned in any single year shall not exceed one hundred sixty (160) hours.  Unused vacation time may be carried over into the next calendar year providing the number of hours does not exceed the hours earned the preceding year.

Probationary staff members shall earn vacation allowance at the same rate as regular staff.  Staff members shall receive compensation for accrued unused vacation upon leaving the employ of the University provided that the staff member gives at least two (2) weeks notice of their intent to leave.  Vacation time shall not be used to continue employment beyond the last day worked for the University.
