Q: Is there a driving force behind your healthy lifestyle? Was it a person in your life, a certain event, were you brought up in a healthy environment? What makes you a healthy individual?

A: When I hit 40 there was a noticeable shift in my health. Gone were the days of eating whatever I wanted and not seeing a change on the scale. I also began having issues with my vision, digestion, joints, headaches and migraines, blood pressure drops, overall exhaustion! I also started working full-time and became more sedentary. My doctor has prescribed medication for some of these health problems but with all medication come side effects. My current health goal is to not be on prescription medication if I don't absolutely need to. This is my driving force behind a healthier lifestyle.

Q: How would you encourage another person to pursue a healthy lifestyle?

A: Start out with one change and slowly introduce additional modifications to diet and exercise. If you slip back into an "old habit" - forgive yourself and start fresh the next day. Don't quit and don't beat yourself up about it. Keep moving forward. We are all a work in progress.

Q: What activities do you engage in to reduce stress?

A: For me, reducing stress is more than doing a physical activates (though it's important of course). I need time to step away from the "to do list" and routine of the day to find my creative side. Something as simple as walking through a scrapbook supply isle is all I need to reduce stress. I love looking at all the different papers, pattern, color and textures.
