A Celebration of First Ladies Betty Ford and Rosalynn Carter

Betty Fords Legacy in Womens Health

April 8, 2014 – 12-3:15 p.m. – A Celebration of First Ladies Betty Ford and Rosalynn Carter

Sue Allen, Deb Hoogendoorn, and Judy Hooker hosted “America’s First Ladies: A Journey of Friendship” with First Lady Rosalynn Carter, a celebration with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and Library & Museum with sponsorship from the Hauenstein Center. This event commemorated Betty Ford’s 96th birthday. Mrs. Carter spoke at the event and was joined on stage by Steve Ford.

Discussions continued at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum following the luncheon with “Betty Ford’s Legacy in Women’s Health.” When the First Family went public about Betty Ford’s breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, it changed the conversation. Betty’s legacy continues as we talk about that pivotal moment in women’s health and the tremendous advancements in breast cancer treatment realized since then.
