Grand Valley community members with ideas to make lasting change in their communities are encouraged to enter the Laker Effect Challenge.

Sponsored by many campus departments, the challenge builds on the Laker Effect campaign spotlighting the collective impact of campus community members.

Linda Chamberlain, from Grand Valley's Technology Commercialization Office, said submissions should be from individuals or groups at Grand Valley working in collaboration with a community partner. She said projects should aim to solve a real problem and demonstrate leadership and advocacy.

Submissions are welcome through October 31, online voting began October 15. The top seven projects, and all idea submitters, will be invited to present ideas via posters on November 30.

Presentation winners will split $5,000 and the top poster will earn $500.

Details are online at gvsu.edu/challenge.
