Annual cycling event raises money for scholarship

The Allegrina 100, a fun for all-levels 100-mile bicycle ride through the picturesque area around Saugatuck, will stage its fifth edition on June 23. The event raises funds for the John Allegrina Scholarship for nontraditional students at Grand Valley.

This is the third year Grand Valley is hosting the West Michigan Summer Intern Olympics.

Grand Valley alumnus Kris Cortez, '11, '13, has been accepted as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in the Transcultural European Outdoor Studies program from the University of Marburg, Germany, and the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo, Norway.

Upcycling, or making old pillowcases and shirts into clothes, was one of many social justice activities during the 2013 MLK celebration.
