Blue appointed vice provost
Posted on June 16, 2006Lynn "Chick" Blue was appointed as vice provost and dean of Academic Services and Information Technology; she served an interim capacity for the past 18 months following the death of Robert Fletcher.
Provost Gayle R. Davis said Blue, university registrar for 30 years, brings great depth of experience and a working history of Grand Valley to the job.
"Lynn is completely devoted to the university and its student-centered philosophy," Davis said. "She has had occasion to learn about most facets of the university over the course of her years at Grand Valley. She brings energy and dedication to everything she does, and she meets challenges with solution-oriented optimism."
Blue started working at GVSU in 1968. Blue was hired by Bruce Tweddale and said her long friendship and association with him, Fletcher and former Provost Glenn Niemeyer prepared her well for her role as registrar.
"Each of those men took such great pride in our university, its students and faculty and each one encouraged me and took interest in my professional development. They served as wonderful role models and mentors," she said.
A national search for a new university registrar will begin soon, Davis said.
