GVSU mourns death of retired vice president

Patricia Oldt, who was instrumental in developing Grand Valley's charter schools program and who served as vice president for Planning and Equity before retiring, died at age 84.

Oldt began working at Grand Valley in 2000, after a long career in education. Oldt has served as superintendent of Northview Public Schools, assistant superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools and assistant dean of continuing education at Grand Rapids Community College.

At Grand Valley, Oldt, who retired in 2016, served as vice president for Planning and Equity and oversaw initiatives that served as the precursor of the Division of Inclusion and Equity. 

A memorial service will be held February 26; details about the service and more information about Oldt are listed in an online obituary.
