President Philomena V. Mantella and university leaders will lace up their shoes for a two-mile walk in an effort to promote a healthy campus.

The annual "Exercise is Medicine on Campus" walk will take place October 4, beginning at the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. Check-in is at 9:45 a.m.; the walk begins at 10 a.m. In case of rain, the walk will take place in the Kelly Family Sports Center.

The walk is open to the campus community. Other university leaders participating include Loren Rullman, dean of Students; Jean Nagelkerk, vice provost for Health; Cynthia McCurren, dean of the Kirkhof College of Nursing; and Roy Olsson, dean of the College of Health Professions.

EIM-OC, sponsored by the American College of Sports Medicine, encourages universities and colleges to promote physical activity on campus. For more information, visit gvsu.edu/eim.

After the walk, the Wellness Fair will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center lobby.

Participants will learn about campus wellness resources, have an opportunity to get a flu shot and hear from presenters (students, faculty and staff members) who have implemented healthy lifestyles.
