Kathryn Christopher, who mostly goes by KC, is a Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering graduate student. She is originally from Portage, MI where she attended Portage Central High School and Kalamazoo Valley Community College before transferring to GVSU. KC had the opportunity to play softball for GVSU while working towards her undergraduate degree in engineering which she completed in 2015. KC is also a part of the Hauenstein Center's Cook Leadership Academy at GVSU and currently works as a graduate assistant in the School of Engineering. In addition to her schoolwork, KC can also be found working on her medical device startup company (Fluition Innovations), helping other startups with design work, or utilizing her design thinking skills at her internship with a local consulting firm. She is also an ambassador for entrepreneurship and design thinking education through a Stanford University sponsored program called the University Innovation Fellows. Her ultimate goal in life is to never stop learning, and many of her passions include technology, entrepreneurship, research, innovation, camping, writing, and human-centered design.
Blaine Harvey is obtaining his Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership. He is originally from Champaign, Illinois, but Denver, Colorado is where his family lives now. He currently works as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Academic Advising Center. He returned to school after spending three years in Japan teaching English and two years roaming around Colorado and some parts of China. Blaine is passionate about working with university students and wants to work specifically with international students in the future. He enjoys talking about food, researching recipes, and cooking. If he is not in the kitchen baking or cooking, you will probably find him outside exploring Michigan and its wonderful nature and scenery.
Jordyn Lawton, from Owosso, Michigan, is a first-year student in the Master of Public Health program at GVSU. She is also the Resources and Marketing Graduate Assistant at The Graduate School. Jordyn graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science from GVSU in 2015. With her background in exercise-related studies and her passion for encouraging healthy, active lifestyles, she hopes to someday work to promote and develop policies that align with these interests. She is excited to be a part of the 2016-2017 GSA Executive Board to work with graduate students across all disciplines. Outside of school, Jordyn enjoys crafting, running, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
Richa Bhurtel, from Kathmandu, Nepal, has been pursuing her MBA at GVSU since Fall 2015. She is currently working as a Graduate Assistant at the Dean's office at Seidman College of Business. As GSA Communications Officer, she is excited to participate in creating a productive interdisciplinary collaboration among graduate students. Academically and professionally, Richa has always enjoyed the idea of working in teams and having diverse viewpoints towards achievement of goals. She is eager to practice the same during her experience at GVSU and at GSA.
