Graduate Faculty Status Update
This semester the Office of Graduate Studies has been working to increase the number of approved Graduate Faculty members. As a result, with the cooperation of the graduate academic units, there has been a large inflow of applications. To date, Dean Potteiger has approved 485 individuals for a graduate faculty level, and this number is on the rise. Of these approved faculty members, 286 have been approved as regular faculty members, and 199 have been approved as adjunct faculty members. Approved regular faculty members consist of 228 individuals approved at the full level, and 58 faculty members approved at the associate level. Approval at the full regular faculty level maintains eligibility for five years, while associate regular faculty level and adjunct faculty level maintains eligibility for three years, after which the faculty members must reapply.
The office has also been generating a list of those faculty members whom are currently teaching a class, but do not have a graduate faculty level. Email notification will be sent to those unapproved faculty members and direct them to the process of applying for a graduate faculty level. The Office of Graduate Studies will continue to work to help all graduate faculty members achieve the requirement of being an approved faculty member to be engaged in graduate education.
The OGS has been working with Institutional Marketing to develop an online graduate faculty application system. This will cut down on paper copies as well as speed up the approval process. Look for emails announcing the launch, and be sure to apply for a graduate faculty level if you have not already done so.
Check the Graduate Faculty page for approved Adjunct and Regular Faculty Listings.
