If you have a Graduate Assistant position available or in mind, please see the helpful Guidlines for Writing Graduate Assistant Job Descriptions. When you are ready to appoint a Graduate Assistant, please use the Graduate Assistantship Appointment Form.
Please submit any new or revised GA job descriptions to Irene Fountain in the Office of Graduate Studies so they may be reviewed to determine if the position is taxable or not taxable.
Grand Valley State University gives faculty and staff the opportunity to hire qualified graduate students to be Graduate Assistants to help with special projects and assignments that require the skilled work of a graduate student. However, graduate assistantships are not to be used in lieu of hiring student employees for clerical and office support. For more information on Graduate Assistantships and the processes and requirements for hiring a Graduate Assistant, please refer to the Policies and Procedures Manual.
Appointment forms should be in the Office of Graduate Studies for review and approval by:
