Sigma Lambda Upsilon / Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was founded on December 1, 1987 and currently has 38 Undergraduate Chapters and 14 Graduate/Professional Chapters. The Alpha Nu Chapter at Grand Valley State University is the first Undergraduate Chapter in Michigan and the second Chapter in the Midwest.

signSigma Lambda Upsilon / Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. promotes their sorority’s goals of Sisterhood, Academic Excellence, Community Service, Leadership, and Cultural Enrichment. Their events focus on Literacy, their national philanthropy, among other educational programs. The sorority has already begun a partnership with the Schools of Hope Literacy Improvement Program, as well as a mentoring relationship with XtraordinarY GirlZ, a group of young ladies ages 14-18 in the Grand Rapids community.
