Greek Life Council
The Greek Life Council is the governing body for all Fraternities and Sororities at Grand Valley State University. It serves as a way to unify the Greek system by providing funding for events, campus programming, and a venue to come together once a month as leaders to discuss issues facing the Fraternity and Sorority community.
Greek Life Council has many responsibilities, including fundraising and planning for the annual Greek Week, hosting community service and philanthropy events, and sending out newsletters updating the local and campus community about what Fraternity and Sorority Life is all about.
When GLC first formed, they came together with a mission statement and set of values that all Fraternity men and Sorority women at Grand Valley strive to uphold:
FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE MISSION STATEMENT:
'To promote character and leadership development, academic achievement, diverse community involvement, and life long bonds through principles encompassed in our rituals.'
FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE VALUES:
As a Fraternity and Sorority Community we:
- will develop and maintain a scholastic program for our members that will enhance and encourage their academic success;
- recognize the importance of serving our community;
- will foster brotherhood and sisterhood between all Fraternity/Sorority organizations;
- will educate and promote healthy lifestyles;
- will respect the dignity of people while embracing the free exchange of ideas and beliefs;
- will be responsible for our actions and recognize their implications in the Fraternity/Sorority and campus community;
- will encourage leadership development and promote leadership opportunities for our members.

Emily Place
President
Affiliation: Rho Gamma Sorority
- Preside over General Assembly meetings
- Preside over Executive Board meetings
- Serve as a liaison to the Greek Advisor and Grand Valley State University Administration
- Set meeting agendas, maintain order, and oversee the overall operation and organization
- Maintain communication with council presidents
- Serve as a voting member of the Executive Board
- Serve as the tie breaking vote in General Assembly

Jenna Knoll
Vice President Programming
Affiliation: Delta Zeta Sorority
- Preside over General Assembly meetings in the absence of the President
- Preside over Executive Board meetings in the absence of the President
- Serve as a liaison for the National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW)and Greek Week committees
- Serve as a liaison between all committees and the Executive Board
- Act as an ex-officio member of committes
- Serve as a voting member of the Executive Board
- Serve as the tie breaking vote in Executive Board meetings

Maria Perez
Vice President Finance
Affiliation: Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority
- Participate in all meetings of the Student Senate Appropriations process
- Prepare an annual budget to submit to the Student Senate Allocations process
- Coordinate the Funding Request Forms
- Coordinate or complete event assessment forms
- Write, submit, and present proposal to the Student Senate Appropriations Committee to secure funds to send members to the Mid-American Greek Council (MGCA) Annual Conference and the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (IFI) and any other conference deemed necessary
- Assist in the petitioning of extra funds from Student Life Fund reserve account when needed
- Oversee any fundraising done by committees or the Executive Board
- Serve as a voting member of the Executive Board
- Serve as the tie breaking vote in Appropriation Board meetings

Emily Hoss
Vice President of Records
Affiliation: Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority
- Maintain official minutes of all General Assemblies and Executive Board meetings
- Provide an electronic copy off all meeting minutes to the Greek Advisor and all member organizations with 48 hours of General Assembly Meeting by posting on Stuey.
- Provide copies of Greek Life Council Constitution and By-Laws to members when necessary
- Maintain custody of all papers belonging to Greek Life Council, not otherwise under the charge of any other officer
- Compile attendance at all Greek Life Council events
- Maintain an updated roster with Stuey and organize Blackboard and website operations
- Ccoordinate an all Greek calendar and newsletter and send our reminders about events throughout the year
- Serve as a voting member of the Executive Board

Vice President of Academics and Service
Affiliation: Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity
- Coordinate and maintain academic programs and service opportunities for the Greek community to participate in
- Act as a resource for chapters and council working to improve academic and find serrvice opportunities
- Serve as the chair for the Academic and Service Committee
- Serve as a voting member of the Executive Board

Sarah Courturier
Vice President of Public Relations
Affiliation: Rho Gamma Sorority
- Coordinate a comprehensive public relations plan for the Greek Life Council and Fraternity and Sorority Life at Grand Valley.
- Act as a resource for chapters seeking help to promote their events on campus and in the community
- Work with events approved by the appropriations committe to help promote and work with the Greek Life Council Executive Board
- Will be respnsible for maintiain the Greek Life Coucnil and Student Life Fund statgement on all promotional materials
- Serve as a voting member of th the Executive Board

Amanda Oke
Vice President of Values Integration
Affiliation: Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority
- Work with the Greek community to help instill the overall Greek Values
- Promote Values Base events on campus and provide chapters with information and resources on how to integrate values into their day to day activities
- Plan and execute a risk managerment program to all Fraternites and Sororities each semester or as needed
- Sereve as a voting member of the Executive Board
