G.A.M.M.A., or Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol,
is a peer education organization created by, and run by the
Grand Valley State University Fraternity and Sorority Community.

What does G.A.M.M.A. do?
G.A.M.M.A. was founded upon seven objectives:

1. To promote interfraternal collaboration regarding alcohol abuse and the corresponding health and safety issues affecting students.

2. To aid the Greek system in  implementing risk management programs and harm reduction strategies.

3. To share fraternity and sorority information and solutions of mutual interest to all parties involved.

4. To assist the Greek system in pro-active and progressive programming regarding issues related to the abuse of alcohol and it’s relation to other health and safety issues.

5. To promote alcohol abuse prevention and other health and safety related educational programming to the GVSU community

6. To assist IFC, NPC, NPHC, MGC, and GLC  in positive public relations campaigns.

7. To act as a liaison with the other campus peer education groups and programming bodies in planning and coordinating positive health and safety oriented programs for the GVSU community.

What G.A.M.M.A. is NOT...

G.A.M.M.A. is not an abstinence only education organization. G.A.M.M.A. recognizes the fact that many students at GVSU choose to drink alcohol, and would not benefit from this form of education. Instead, G.A.M.M.A. is focused upon the mature management of alcohol; which is accomplished through education, and skills training. The ultimate goal of G.A.M.M.A. is to prevent alcohol abuse, and issues associated with it.

G.A.M.M.A. is not a punitive measure for fraternities and sororities.
Membership in G.A.M.M.A., and attendance at G.A.M.M.A. events is 100% voluntary for the fraternity and sorority community. The organization will not allow themselves or their events to be used as a punishment by any fraternity or sorority.
