Theta Chi Fraternity
Iota Gamma Chapter
Founded: April 10, 1856
Nickname: None
Colors: Military Red and White
Symbol: The Rattlesnake
Open Motto: An Assisting Hand

Theta Chi has been on campus since 2000, but has been an international fraternity since 1856. As one of the largest fraternities in the nation, Theta Chi has promoted its ideals across the world. Theta Chi is fundamentally different from other fraternities in that it seeks to better the community, instead of just one person.

Our motto is "an assisting hand", and our creed states that we "extend a helping hand to all who seek it". Through strong brotherhood and excellence both in the classroom and outside it, the Iota Gamma chapter of Theta Chi strives to better the community around them. We have several traditional philanthropic events, such as a Wheelchair Basketball tournament as well as a Thirty Hour Famine, both of whose proceeds go to benefit our chapter's charity, Alternatives In Motion, who help those in need obtain wheelchairs at a cost they can afford. In addition to these traditional events, the Iota Gamma chapter is very involved with various
Habitat for Humanity builds, the White Ribbon campaign, Relay for Life, as well as putting on a multitude of other service events throughout the year, both on campus and off.

Brothers of Theta Chi are also heavily involved in other non-Greek campus organizations, as well. Through this involvement, the brothers of Theta Chi are better able to serve the community around them, not only on campus, but in the greater Grand Rapids area, as well.

New members of Theta Chi are actively involved in the chapter, and are strongly Theta Chi Member's Raise Money for Alternatives in Motionencouraged to attend the Mid-Year Leadership Conference, as well as other leadership events put on by our international headquarters. New members are also encouraged to be active with in the chapter from the beginning by coming to general assembly meetings, as well as sitting in on any committee meetings they are interested in. Men interested in building character while improving their community are encouraged to reach us at: oxgvsu@gmail.com
