Interfraternity Council

Interfraternity Council Recruitment

What is Recruitment:

Recruitment is your chance to get to know the fraternities on campus. Recruitment is simply making friends with fraternity members, getting to know the fraternities on campus, and determining which organization is the best fit for you. You should try to meet with members from multiple fraternities to make sure you find the right fraternity for you.

Recruitment at Grand Valley, unlike many other schools, is not limited to a two week period at the beginning of the semester. At Grand Valley, you can accept a bid to a fraternity 365 days a year. Accordingly, you do not have to feel pressured to join a fraternity before you are ready.

How to Join a Fraternity:

Step 1:
For more information about fraternities at GVSU, read through this website.

Step 2:
Hang out with a Fraternity. The recruitment events are there for you to get to know the members of the fraternities and to see what fraternity life is really about. There are many different fraternities on campus; Try to meet more than one.

Step 3:
Talk to your top choice fraternity about what you are looking for in fraternity life and what you think about it. Many who have joined before you probably had some of the same questions.

Step 4:
If a fraternity gives you a bid (an invitation to join their fraternity), and you want to join too, accept it!
