Shakespearean Romance. Our focus will be on the romance genre. We will read romantic comedies and the romances (or tragic-comedies) Shakespeare wrote at the end of his career.  The course will also include two tragedies which might be described as romantic tragedies. The following is a tentative list of plays to be covered:

• The Menaechmi, by Plautus
• Comedy of Errors
• The Taming of the the Shrew
• A Midsummer Night's Dream
• Much Ado About Nothing
• As You Like It
• Twelfth Night
• Romeo and Juliet
• King Lear
• Pericles
• Cymbeline
• The Winter's Tale
• The Tempest
