The criminal justice master's degree consists of a minimum of 36 credit hours. The core required courses consists of 18 credit hours as follows:

CORE REQUIRED COURSES:

  •      CJ 600 Qualitative Methods
  •      CJ 601 Criminal Justice Leadership
  •      CJ 602 Legal and Ethical Issues
  •      CJ 604 Criminal Justice Policy and Program Evaluation
  •      CJ 606 Research Methodology and Data Analysis
  •      CJ 607 Advanced Criminology

   Choose ONE of the following courses:

  •      CJ 620 Advanced Police Systems
  •      CJ 621 Advanced Corrections Systems
  •      CJ 622 Advanced Juvenile Justice Systems
  •      CJ 623 Advanced Private Security Systems 

Nine (9) to twelve (12) hours of Electives, One (1) must be from OUTSIDE of Criminal Justice:     

  •      CJ 608 Advanced Quantitative Data Analysis
  •      CJ 611 Community Policing
  •      CJ 640 Graduate Internship - highly recommended for students who have   no prior criminal justice or private security work experience    
  •      CJ 642 Victimology
  •      CJ 644 Forensic Behavior and Law
  •      CJ 640 Special Topics Seminar
  •      CJ 691 Issues in Research and Writing
  •      CJ 699 Directed Readings
  •      Outside CJ Graduate Course -- must be pre-approved by Graduate Director

Choose ONE of the following courses:
