All candidates for the degree must complete 33 credits, as well as research integrity training as indicated below.

In addition to the courses listed below, all MS-CIS students are required to complete an online course in research integrity during their first semester. The course is free to GVSU students and can be found at https://researchskills.epigeum.com. Be sure to complete the course titled "Research Integrity - Engineering and Technology". Once complete, please download the PDF certificate and email it to the graduate program director.
If you enrolled in Computer Information Systems, M.S. prior to fall 2013, please use the following course guidelines.
All candidates are expected to complete the two foundation courses, CIS 500 and CIS 501. However, a placement exam can be taken to demonstrate proficiency in the topics covered by the Foundation Courses. A successful score on the placement exam will result in waiving the requirement of the Foundation Courses (33 credits are still required for the degree).

Each candidate must complete a culminating experience of either the capstone course, the project course (the most popular option), or the thesis sequence. Please contact the Graduate Program Director one semester prior to starting any of these.
