LeaAnne Tibbe is a Grand Valley State University graduate who just couldn’t get enough of the Grand Valley community. Tibbe is now the assistant director for special events and promotions for student life.

“I absolutely love what I do,” she said. “I love the impact that I make, I love the students that I work with, and I love being an alumni and a faculty/staff member.”

Two of Tibbe’s children have attended and graduated from Grand Valley as well. The family clearly has roots within the university.

“There is so much of a personal touch here and I really don’t know if you’d find that elsewhere,” she said. “Faculty and staff invest in our students and Grand Valley invests in us.”

Tibbe strongly feels that giving back to the university is an important part of being a faculty/staff member.

“I see the direct impact day after day that giving back does for the lives of these students,” she said. “I believe as faculty and staff we are not only impacting them by the gifts given, but also by the ongoing personal support and encouragement to help them succeed.”

Tibbe considers Grand Valley students part of her family and feels closely connected to the university. Being a part of the university has had such a great influence on Tibbe’s life.

“Grand Valley has given so much to my family,” she said. “I don’t know where to even begin to explain how much impact the university has had on us or where I’d be without it.”
