Having worked to support himself since he was very young, Gregory Borja has experienced the challenge of putting himself through college. “I chose to come to Grand Valley because it was close to work; I’ve been working at the same job for nine years and they became my family,” said Borja.
While he started off in engineering, he found his calling as an international business and marketing major. “I realized that I could use my creativity to open a successful business,” said Borja. “Owning my own business is my dream, and my ultimate goal is to open a hotel and restaurant in Spain, where my family originates.”
Despite having to work many hours at his job and on his homework, Borja has also made time to volunteer with many different organizations at Grand Valley. “From when I first started volunteering to where I am now, it has become a huge part of my life and perspective,” said Borja.
These experiences have shown him the importance of giving and the impact it can have on a student’s life. “There are a lot of students that need help like I did and many who need it even more. Once I’ve saved some money after graduation, I will definitely be giving back.”
